  Wonderful location, beach was easily accessed and not at all crowded. Home was not fully cleaned when we arrived, but the beds were very comfortable, updated appliances and kitchen made for great food prep, pool was nice and clean. Staff wasn't familiar with the wireless codes, so unable to access the internet for the first day. However, the next morning they were more than happy to get the information for us and we were on-line. A very lovely home, but if you have younger children (ours are boys ages 2 and 4), there are really too many decor items to make it comfortable for rambunctious kids. Overall would recommend the area and the home to anyone going for a short or extended stay.

  Only things missing were salt and pepper, the basket that holds the ground coffee in the coffee maker and also the coffee liners were too little.

  Perfect location with quick and easy access to beach. Nice decor throughout with comfy beds. Bathrooms were very small and we had trouble finding the 3rd the garage! Would have liked a grill/BBQ on site.

  We found the Sweet Retreat to be very comfortable and clean. The bathrooms were quite small, but overall, they were fine. The sliding glass door going out to the deck was used a lot, but it was difficult to "slide" at times. Easily remedied by lifting up on the handle, but it was difficult for the younger kids to handle. We would have loved to have use of a grill, but there was not one for this unit. Walking to the beach was a piece of cake and the pool was great. The complex was very quiet, which was a plus. We would stay here again!

  We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Great house...comfortable furnishings, excellent kitchen, nice pool and easy access to the beach. Only drawbacks were small bathrooms, locks on front door were hard to lock and unlock, and door going onto back deck was difficult to open and close - definitely needs attention. We hope to return soon!!!

  Overall, we were very happy with Port Aransas Escapes. They were very responsive during the reservation process and up front with us about the pros and cons of the property. Our trip was a short notice outing and there were limited properties available.
  
  The Sweet Retreat is in a great location just down the beach from Port Royal, and the "home" is steps from the beach. The Sweet Retreat 11LC would be great for a large family trip, but the layout was not ideal for three couples. Unfortunately, the owners have chosen to block off the master bedroom and bathroom on the top floor. Thus, the so called 3rd bedroom is actually a converted garage downstairs with two queen beds and a large sitting area, but it does not have access to a bathroom or sink without going upstairs. This becomes a problem at night as the bathroom on the middle floor connects to a bedroom and is going to wake up anyone in that room. The two bathrooms guests are given access to are also very small - RV or cruise ship size.

  This was the first time i have tried renting a beach, all though one of the girls we went with did rent us a house in Florida and was a big help. There was 3 other couples that rode with us to Texas and the only complaint was the showers and no tub.But the pictures did show a shower, just didnt look so small. And the pictures did show an upstairs balcony facing the beach that we were not allowed access to and that was the room of which i was personally looking forward to for ours. The house was really nice and access to the beach was great, apx. 150 yards.If i get a chance to return to the Sweet Retreat 11LC, I will do so. The place was very clean and neat, kitchen was well set up and ready for us. One couple that has traveled all over the U.S. said" This is the best trip ever. The staff lady, I delt with, Tracy, was just fantastic, espically her having to deal with a first timmer like myself. Everything she did was a great help from the discription of the place to handing us keys for each couple. I personaly recomend if a you has never tried this before to do so and to use Poet Aransas Escapes. Thanks Tracy for all the help and patience, Rick

  We had 5 adults and 2 children staying at the house, and we had plenty of room. The house is very nicely decorated and you can't beat the location - steps to the pool, and the boardwalk to the beach is right past that. The bathrooms are very small (it kind of felt like we were on a cruise ship.) If you have small children, you'll need to do some impromptu childproofing, as the owner has many beautfiul but breakable :) items within reach of small hands. We would definitely rent this house again.

  We stayed in unit LC 11 in Lost Colony. The property was very nice and suitable to 4 adults and 2 children. Our only inconvenience was the sliding glass door to the deck. It took an adult to open it and two adults to close it. Over all we enjoyed our stay and would come back again. Thanks

  Our usual beach house wasn't available this Thanksgiving so we settled on The Sweet Retreat at Lost Colony. It was wonderful to be so close to the beach and nice to have a view of the water from the back deck. The house is adorable, but a little small and it felt even smaller because of the large furniture and tons of accessories. There is very little closet space, the bathrooms are tiny, the kitchen is beautiful, but had space for groceries.

  Plenty of Kitchen utensils for any/all meals. Good ammenities (pool, parking, clean up). Great access to the beach and town. The home was cluttered with nonfunctional furniture and accessories that created awkward spaces. Some of the furniture was in poor and dangerous condition. The creeking stair and restrooms on 2nd and 3rd floor were not accomodating for our age group. I would recommend on a limited basis of no more than four people over 50. We had a wonderful time.   Liked the house, AC was not functioning on arrival (breaker was off)internet was down in the entire complex (not homeowner or agent fault) and the back patio sliding door was VERY diffecult to operate.
  
  It's apparent the home is well cared for and we treated like our own and left it in just as good or better condition on our departure. We did have a visit from the homeowner on our arrival and departure which was not very pleasant or inviting.
  
  The property and grounds are well maintained and very close to the beach.

  Too many knick knacks that can be broken if you have children in your group. Only two very small bathrooms as master bedroom and bathroom are off limits. Air conditioning is undersized and has been set back at night making the rooms uncomfortable except in the add-on in the garage.
